True Blue LA

It's Back

The Big Board makes it's triumphant return to True Blue LA. If you have to know who plays second for the Inland Empire 66ers and you have to know now, you've got your chance. Now that I've found another semi updated source for minor league transactions, I'll actually be able to keep it up to date this year.

While putting this together, I noticed a few Paul DePodesta favorites quietly got released. Outfielder Anthony Raglani, who had put together a .264/.368/.454 line in four seasons with the Dodgers doesn't appear on any of our rosters, nor does Cory Dunlap, who certainly looked the part of a three true outcomes all star, but he managed to only slug .323 last year, which pretty much signed his release papers. Also notable in his abscene is Nook "Juan Pierre lite" Logan, which does leave the question of who becomes our 6th outfielder once Jason Repko collides with Xavier Paul.

And the winner for best name in the organization this year is a tie for the first time ever. Given Kutz and Cal Stanke get to share the award this year. Congratulations.

Drew

Where's the advanced defensive efficiency report?

Re

My computer crashed taking the spreadsheet I used with it. It will take a while.

RE:

The big board is awesome

I'd Like To Know The Story

Behind how Given Kutz was named. I hope his parents read this blog.

RE: I'd Like To Know The Story

I just found this blog after Given pitched his first game of the season for Inland Empire: a 3-inning save with 2 hits, 2 K's, no runs. Yes, I'm proud. OK, the story in the name Given Kutz.

First, Kutz is pronounced the same as JJ Putz of the Seattle Mariners - sounds like the toots part of Tootsie Roll.

Given is a Mennonite name and comes from comes from the Bible, Isaiah 9:6, a passage you hear around Christmas time "Unto us a child is born, unto us a son is GIVEN". Mennonites take things so literally! :)

Given is the sixth first-born son in the family to be named Given - but we all have different middle names and our family is no longer Mennonite.

Hope that answers it .

Papa Given

I Completely Forgot About Bridger Hunt.

Is he going to be any good? That's such a classy name, it'd be a shame if he never made it.

Also, I had no idea we had signed Terry Tiffee. Check out Terry Tiffee's Wikipedia page that was written by someone who hates Terry Tiffee for some reason. I'm somewhat surprised he wasn't in consideration to take over 3B while Nomar and LaRoche were out. He's not very good, but we didn't need him for that long. Andrew, to answer your question about 6th OF, the obvious answer is Wilkin Ruan. I can't wait to see him hit .111 in September.

Re:

I was also surprised he wasn't given consideration. He did get at bats in spring training so it is not like he wasn't under their thumbs.

Lombard or Griffin would make adequate 5th outfielders if needed.

Why

would Alfredo Silverio repeat a league he destroyed?

Adkins

Know why he's pitching in relief? To limit his innings or because they know he's destined for the Bullpen. The heir to Beimel?

Is That a Compliment or Insult?

Don't Know

Seems kind of disappointing to waste such a high pick on a guy destined for the bullpen at best. Beimel looks primed for a implosion this year, too. But I guess if he's a major leaguer at he it should be considered somewhat a success.

I'm Sure You Could Tell Angel Pena The Same Thing

But he sure wouldn't feel like a success. Probably have more of a fat, bloated feeling.

Robert Boothe?

Outside of the initial signing, he's been a ghost. Any word on his whereabouts, skills, status?

Robert Boothe

He is in extended spring training, working out with the GCL Dodgers at the moment. I'm not sure if they have him designated for assignment there, or elsewhere, yet.
