Ned, you are without a doubt the best person I've ever hired but as I look at my 18 million doller center fielder playing in AAA, my other 8 million dollar center fielder sitting on the bench, my 15 million ace playing soft catch for the last two season, my 15 million dollar SS taking a summer vacation, my current 18 millon dollar middle infielders showing the range of a failed AI contestant, the 7 millon I'm paying that clown you picked up last Sept, I think it is safe to say that no matter the good intentions, everything you touch turns to shit. You are just an unlucky SOB and I can't afford that kind of luck. On your way out can you ask Kim to come in. Say Hi to the kids.

What a glorious week this has been

Stop blaming Ned.
It’s the players who are underperforming. Obviously, he’s made some poor decisions, but this team’s failures are not based on Colletti’s decisions, put the players’ collective performance. Look, you have to give the guy some credit. He’s put together a team that has more talent than most of the other clubs that they face, but the don’t play like it. Look to the players, not the front office.

As Will Carroll has said countless times, health is a skill. And in that respect, most of the players Ned signs have absolutely no talent for staying healthy.

Andruw Jones
may be lousy right now but until this year he probably has played more games in the last 10 years then anyone in baseball. Same with Pierre. Health is only a problem for Schmidt/Furcal.
Phil Gurnee - August 29, 2008
Well, yea, but Pierre sucks.

And we only bash Ned Colletti here, you hippy. Dodgers.com is where all the Ned Colletti-lovers go and talk about how sweet it would be if we could trade Mark Sweeney and a prospect for Pujols. Woo!
(Sarcasm, folks!)

LEAVE NED ALONE!!
Are you going to release a video recorded w/ you screaming under a blanket? Is that’s what’s next?

hmm

Los Angeles Dodgers
Optioned LHP Clayton Kershaw to Triple-A Las Vegas. Recalled LHP Scott Elbert from Double-A Jacksonville.
why not recall james mcdonald?
wongy - August 29, 2008
Mcdonald
Just started the other day. They want Elbert for some relief help this weekend. On Sept 1st they can recall Kershaw for his next start if they want to.

Andruw Jones
has been tearing it up in AAA 4 of his 11 hits are homers. Although I find it odd that he was playing first last night.
bluemax - August 29, 2008
His knee still
hurts so he asked to play first so he could at bats without having to play the outfield.

Next year..
This team will win 100 games next year if the pieces remain together.
Kent retiring frees open another spot in the lineup and you have to figure Dre’s, Kemp’s and Loney’s power numbers keep improving. If they all hit more dingers and Manny is in the lineup for 120-30 games (both of which I feel are safe if not secure bets) the team will already be much better. Add in a healthy Furcal at the top of the lineup and a POSSIBLY rejuved Andruw Jones if Dre fails to continue to improve and WOW, how can this team not be awesome next season?
They simply have too much talent playing, sitting on the bench, waiting in the wings to not be good if this current bunch is kept together for another season.
