I think I got LAT'd
This Bartman thing on ESPN is actually incredibly interesting.
Ivdown - September 27, 2011
it is
i came in late, but it’s on again tomorrow, so I set it to record.
Tommy Blackjack - September 27, 2011
Good luck, Matt
two homers in two games
Connector - September 27, 2011
or both tonight
you know, if you want to Matt. :)
Tommy Blackjack - September 27, 2011
Up to the minute
Jose Reyes (2-4 with 2 homers) .3352
Ryan Braun (1-2 with a single) .3345
Matthew Ryan Kemp (TBD) .3238
Kemp can still win the batting title. All he needs from this point forward…
Kemp 8 for 9
Reyes 0 for 5
Braun 0 for 4
Eric Stephen - September 27, 2011
That's all huh
Michael White - September 27, 2011
If both Reyes and Braun play tomorrow
G.Scott - September 27, 2011
8 for 8
Eric Stephen - September 27, 2011
Wild card update
TB 5, NY 3, top 8
Bos 7, Bal 4, bot 7
Phi 7, Atl 1, bot 9
StL 5, Hou 5, top 5
Eric Stephen - September 27, 2011
Braves lost
lead StL by a half game
Eric Stephen - September 27, 2011

Julio Nievas - September 27, 2011

G.Scott - September 27, 2011

Eric Stephen - September 27, 2011
I told you not to take those beans
Josie Becker - September 27, 2011

shaqfor3 - September 27, 2011
What happened in Kemp's AB
Ivdown - September 27, 2011
flyout to RF
Eric Stephen - September 27, 2011
thanks
Ivdown - September 27, 2011
the Dbacks have a solid foundation for the future. lots of nice pitching depth in their system
NotJoeTorre - September 27, 2011
they never brought up Bauer
did they?
Tommy Blackjack - September 27, 2011
They did not
Eric Stephen - September 27, 2011
THERE IS NO TIME
Maddz - September 27, 2011
He got roughed up in the minors, despite averaging 15 K / 9 innings.
albany10 - September 27, 2011
By the Lookouts
Phil Gurnee - September 27, 2011
nice one
Dee
Tommy Blackjack - September 27, 2011
A pair of 13-pitch first innings.
Eric Stephen - September 27, 2011
What did Bartman do?
JLS23 - September 27, 2011
oh i get it. a movie
moral of the story: don’t reach for the ball.
JLS23 - September 27, 2011
especially not when it’s clearly out of play and you have every right/natural reaction to reach for the ball
G.Scott - September 27, 2011
Steve Bartman should have let the ball hit him in the face so really it’s his fault that
regfairfield - September 27, 2011
He did what 95% of all fans would have done
just a horrible result.
Ivdown - September 27, 2011
RIGHT! he should have caught it.
G.Scott - September 27, 2011
95% of ignorant fans. If the parents didn’t teach you that first row in your home park comes with responsibility they didn’t raise you right. You stand your ground against the opposing team and make room for the homies. It is quite simple even for those not educated in private schools can figure it out. The ball may or may not have been playable but Alou deserved every chance to find out.
That said I was rooting really hard for Prior to blow up. It was one of the sweetest games not involving the Dodgers I’ve watched.
Phil Gurnee - September 27, 2011
Its only a natural reaction to put your arms up to not get hit in the head with the ball.
Joey Joe - September 27, 2011
This is not where Bartman's head is
Eric Stephen - September 27, 2011
that one guy is horrified
NotJoeTorre - September 27, 2011
Who the hell has sat front row here
I know I sure as hell never have.
Ivdown - September 28, 2011
And what EVERYONE around him was doing.
fbihop - September 27, 2011
The pic above seems to show one other guy and Bartman reaching, and all the others pulling back.
David Young - September 27, 2011
MAybe it was just my memory playing tricks on me.
fbihop - September 27, 2011
I think the dude in the gray, on the far left, was going for it but just wasn’t close.
Eric Stephen - September 27, 2011
and wasn’t wearing a meme-worthy outfit.
G.Scott - September 27, 2011
Dude in gray was definitely going for the ball. Video here. I want a documentary on that guy.
Eric Stephen - September 27, 2011
it can be like JFK, and just have Kevin Costner playing the video over, and oer and or and ovr
Josie Becker - September 27, 2011
Story about dude in gray on ESPN today
Hollywood Joe - September 27, 2011
TV or dot com?
Eric Stephen - September 27, 2011

Hollywood Joe - September 27, 2011
Gracias
Eric Stephen - September 27, 2011
was this a real question? haha
Ivdown - September 27, 2011
no i was just wondering why he was trending on twitter
JLS23 - September 27, 2011
All those shrooms are making twitter flashback to 2003.
G.Scott - September 27, 2011
Jeffrey Maier (sp?) is a dick of a kid
Ivdown - September 27, 2011
siddown
Tommy Blackjack - September 27, 2011
Were suede jackets ever a thing?
G.Scott - September 27, 2011
heck yeah
Josie Becker - September 27, 2011
when, oh enlightened one?
G.Scott - September 27, 2011
when Hugh Grant wore one that one time : )
Josie Becker - September 27, 2011
If it was good enough for Elvis (in red yet)
David Young - September 27, 2011
I have a black one my dad gave me as a graduation present that he looked sad when i said i wasn’t taking it with me, trying to decide if i’d ever wear it, and I think not.
G.Scott - September 27, 2011
what if one day it’s cold, but not rainy, and you’re dressed up, and neat a jacket you can wear with a shirt and tie. Then. Then maybe you’ll want that jacket.
Probably not though
Josie Becker - September 27, 2011
if i ever neat a jacket that badly, i hope i also halve my good shoes with me.
G.Scott - September 27, 2011
I have a “sueded” black shirt, but I have never had a suede jacket.
David Young - September 27, 2011
the jacket…it’s just a bunch of no
Maddz - September 27, 2011
Rays lead the wildcard
If only for a few minutes
Paul Udani - September 27, 2011
Baltimore making an epic comeback
dodgerpreacher - September 27, 2011
Tom Verducci is an idiot.
drulenarendes - September 27, 2011
First Hit!

Tommy Blackjack - September 27, 2011
no nono for the new guy!
shaqfor3 - September 27, 2011
whats up with Prime ticket?
NotJoeTorre - September 27, 2011
game
is on KCAL
Tommy Blackjack - September 27, 2011
i know
but when did the Angels start using both stations at the same time?
NotJoeTorre - September 27, 2011
sometimes when they’ve only got on game, the Foxes will do one camera angle on one channel and another on another. I’ve seen them do it for the Lakers before
Josie Becker - September 27, 2011
yeah, its just stadium noise and a terrible home plate angle
NotJoeTorre - September 27, 2011
oh wait, its switching cameras
NotJoeTorre - September 27, 2011
the part of Prime Ticket that is fucking up is the portion Fox is giving to Frank as part of the new TV rights deal. Fix gets the Dodgers, Frank gets horse racing.
G.Scott - September 27, 2011
I’m sliding a little off base here waiting for Matts next AB but Tracy Ringolsby, that Guy with the BIG cowboy hat, has Kemp 3rd in the MVP voting, it pays to wear a big cowboy hat when you are scooping horseshit
And did Nancy Graces dancing partner use to work at SeaWorld?
dodgers32 - September 27, 2011
It's over
Jose Reyes singled, now at .3364.
Only way Kemp can catch him is to go 9 for his next 9, while Reyes finishes 0 for 5.
Eric Stephen - September 27, 2011
reyes winning the batting title
helps kemp out in winning the mvp
matthewmafa - September 27, 2011
Whats Russ Mitchell need to do to get some PT ahead of Miles?
There’s only 2 games left.
Joey Joe - September 27, 2011
Not have wrist surgery this morning, for one
Eric Stephen - September 27, 2011
ha ha
Phil Gurnee - September 27, 2011
ooops missed that
Joey Joe - September 27, 2011
watching 24 hours in the ER
this guy was in a motorbike accident, his gentleman sausage was purple for three weeks. How you guys manage those things is beyond me.
Josie Becker - September 27, 2011
Motorcycles aren’t that hard to ride once you get used to it. Just have to worry about cars not seeing you, really.
fbihop - September 27, 2011
Yeah, that is no big deal, hell that only happens two or three times during a three mile drive.
Phil Gurnee - September 27, 2011
I don’t actually ride a motorcycle.
fbihop - September 27, 2011
….but i play one on tv.
G.Scott - September 27, 2011
right? I feel terrified riding a bicycle in traffic, and I’m only going 10 mph
Josie Becker - September 27, 2011
plus, the moped experiences you must have had.
G.Scott - September 27, 2011
those were some good times, rolling down PCH
Josie Becker - September 27, 2011
Nolander will hate this, but it is worse now with all the distracted drivers.
Phil Gurnee - September 27, 2011
Yeah, my girlfriend wonders if she’ll be able to ride on the streets without freaking out again.
fbihop - September 27, 2011
They say to get back on the horse but they didn’t account for clueless drivers.
Phil Gurnee - September 27, 2011
My dad got hit once, got a separated shoulder and the cops didn’t do anything to the driver. He was not happy about that.
fbihop - September 27, 2011
can't remember where I saw this
but someone said:
yellow means slow down
red means stop and check your email
green means go without looking
Josie Becker - September 27, 2011
bigger is not always better:)
Phil Gurnee - September 27, 2011
Tying run to the plate for Baltimore, 0 outs bottom 9. 8-6 Sox

cldpc - September 27, 2011
Jackass even pimps routine fly balls. I hope your penis is swollen for three weeks as the result of a motorbike accident.
G.Scott - September 27, 2011
I liked Sausage better
Phil Gurnee - September 27, 2011
i forgot the correct nomenclature, that’s my fault.
G.Scott - September 27, 2011
Gentlemen sausage.
David Young - September 27, 2011
Not possible.
He needs a p**** first.
cldpc - September 27, 2011
He needs a pacer?
fbihop - September 27, 2011
I was thinking “plate”, but “pacer” works too.
cldpc - September 27, 2011
Or panda!

matthewmafa - September 27, 2011
I hope he gets it with singles
Eric Stephen - September 27, 2011

Josie Becker - September 27, 2011
He’s lowering his free agent value so the Dodgers can sign him.
cldpc - September 27, 2011

Tommy Blackjack - September 27, 2011
AJ Ellis would have made it.
fbihop - September 27, 2011

it’s just not fair :)
Tommy Blackjack - September 27, 2011
He is a MACHINE in getting OBP.
fbihop - September 27, 2011
Baseball America writter @jjcoop36:
fbihop - September 27, 2011
he should get some bat speed as well
NotJoeTorre - September 27, 2011
Red Sox almost fucked up that dribbler.
8-7 Sox, 2 outs, runner on 2B
Eric Stephen - September 27, 2011
like 1986 style?
Josie Becker - September 27, 2011
only reason it wasnt f'ed up is cause the catcher was running
anyone else would have made it to first safely
matthewmafa - September 27, 2011
Or DH. Vlad Guerrero would have made it interesting as well.
fbihop - September 27, 2011
siddown
Tommy Blackjack - September 27, 2011

David Young - September 27, 2011

Eric Stephen - September 27, 2011
Considering Wally Bell has been calling that a strike
Brave take by Adam Jones
Paul Udani - September 27, 2011
yeah can’t believe he didn’t ring him up, I thought it was a strike
NotJoeTorre - September 27, 2011
Has PApelbon thrown anything except a fastball yet?
fbihop - September 27, 2011
FTFY
G.Scott - September 27, 2011

G.Scott - September 27, 2011

Josie Becker - September 27, 2011
I thought you went to right field with them,

Ryan Braun has two walks tonight (also 1 for 2)
Eric Stephen - September 27, 2011
Sox win
Tommy Blackjack - September 27, 2011
Fuuuuuuuck.
David Young - September 27, 2011
Sox win. AL WC tied after 161
Eric Stephen - September 27, 2011
it makes it easy to decide about expanding the WC in the offseason
NotJoeTorre - September 27, 2011
Yes, the decision should be not to do it.
Eric Stephen - September 27, 2011
agreed
NotJoeTorre - September 27, 2011
wouldnt expanding the wild card mean...
either starting the season even earlier than this year…or just accepting November baseball.
Joey Joe - September 27, 2011
they'd only play one game
so maybe not
Tommy Blackjack - September 27, 2011
one game playoff = burning your ace
Works for the Phillies
NotJoeTorre - September 27, 2011
incentive
to win the division
Tommy Blackjack - September 27, 2011
the season is too long already, the minor league playoff set up could work but fuck that noise.
NotJoeTorre - September 27, 2011
22 pitches for Kuroda this inning
two outs, runner on first. They are making him work.
David Young - September 27, 2011
WC going to the last day
Not without some adventure
Paul Udani - September 27, 2011
imagine what will happen
when there are two!!
Tommy Blackjack - September 27, 2011

NotJoeTorre - September 27, 2011
Image I hope to never have to use again
Because he’s up all year and is awesome.
David Young - September 27, 2011
YES!!
Tommy Blackjack - September 27, 2011
if ned is still here in a couple years

Joey Joe - September 27, 2011
Give it until June 2012
G.Scott - September 27, 2011
Caching out today
Eric Stephen - September 27, 2011
Prince Fielder has 38 home runs now. Has hit three so far tonight.
fbihop - September 27, 2011
Mother F-er
G.Scott - September 27, 2011
WTF
Eric Stephen - September 27, 2011
He’s now at 299/414/565
Joey Joe - September 27, 2011
He might be taking Kemp’s MVP
Joey Joe - September 27, 2011
The only thing Prince would do is take votes from Braun, which would help Kemp
Eric Stephen - September 27, 2011
I look at it as, “Oh, Kemp is only leading in one category and we all decided that we like Braun best anyway…”
fbihop - September 27, 2011
Fuckin pirates!
jrock247 - September 27, 2011
at 120 RBI now too.
Eric Stephen - September 27, 2011
Each home run was a go-ahead home run. His WPA is going to be off-the-charts.
fbihop - September 27, 2011
Oops, nevermind.
@wezen_ball:
fbihop - September 27, 2011
what the hell
shaqfor3 - September 27, 2011
Fucker. Two off Ohlendorf.
David Young - September 27, 2011
Arrogant Bastard Ale: Blech.
G.Scott - September 27, 2011
Shock Top Belgian White: Very good. My favorite non-craft beer.
fbihop - September 27, 2011
had one the other night. Sister got me an assorted 6 pack for my birthday and i’m just getting to the last one. Arrogant Bastard is just really not very good.
G.Scott - September 27, 2011
Its tough to drink, for sure. 7.2% ABV, though, so it gets the job done.
fbihop - September 27, 2011
nasty
NotJoeTorre - September 27, 2011
I had no problem drinking it.
David Young - September 27, 2011
What a warrior.
cldpc - September 27, 2011
jebus
that inning took forever
shaqfor3 - September 27, 2011
31 pitches
and Kuroda works slowly with runners on.
David Young - September 27, 2011
I don't remember why I have this
Creation date “2009-07-14 20:17:35”

David Young - September 27, 2011
I’d show all the pictures that I barely remember taking that are on my computer but… uh… never mind, let’s not talk about this anymore.
fbihop - September 27, 2011
Kemp was one of the final-vote guys, right?
And he lost to Bran Torino?
Talka1ot - September 27, 2011
Good pull
Eric Stephen - September 27, 2011
Yes, nice.
David Young - September 27, 2011
Yeah, I was QQ'ing hard on that one.
Would’ve rather seen Panda win than Shane Vic. I voted a ton for Kemp, too.
Talka1ot - September 27, 2011
because
the top says sign through 2017.
jrock247 - September 27, 2011
I believe I made this pic. You can tell from its crudeness.
David Young - September 27, 2011
I like it. You can change it to MVP after this season if he somehow doesn’t win it.
jrock247 - September 27, 2011
this guy
hasnt walked anyone so far
shaqfor3 - September 27, 2011
Unpacking a bottom shelf in the back of my closet, just found bran new spikes with a pitchers toe already on them looking CLEAN. F-ing Score!

Josie Becker - September 27, 2011
hahaha
got that into it huh?
Tommy Blackjack - September 27, 2011
I can’t stand people who sit and play wii. It’s like watching someone watch an exercise video
Josie Becker - September 27, 2011
not all those games
can be played that way
Tommy Blackjack - September 27, 2011
Do you sit while you play guitar on rock band/guitar hero?
fbihop - September 27, 2011
ask reg, not only do I fucking rock out, I sing like I’m at the Forum
Josie Becker - September 27, 2011
well I do until I’m too drunk to stand. Then I do it on the floor
Josie Becker - September 27, 2011
We still talking about video games here?
David Young - September 27, 2011
I move around when I sing but can’t play guitar standing up.
fbihop - September 27, 2011
Reyes hit a ball that resulted in an out in extras, now 3 for 6. Down to .3358
Three-way tie at .33333333
Kemp goes 8 for 8
Reyes 0 for 4
Braun 0 for 2 (or 1 for 5)
Eric Stephen - September 27, 2011

shaqfor3 - September 27, 2011
Braun due up 5th, Fielder 6th in the bottom of the 8th in Milwaukee. Brewers up 6-4
Eric Stephen - September 27, 2011

overpowering relief pitcher thrives in 8th inning role. Let’s NOT make him the closer. Good call by DX2
JLS23 - September 27, 2011
It is a good call, and no, they’re different pitchers based on stuff.
G.Scott - September 27, 2011
Broxton was a great closer, until he broke down
I do think Kenley might be better served in a setup role, as he can be brought in pressure situations.
Tommy Blackjack - September 27, 2011
also, his mechanics are garbage. way to be 6’12" big guy.
G.Scott - September 27, 2011

Joey Joe - September 27, 2011
for a major league pitcher, I would argue his arm is as fresh as can be.
NotJoeTorre - September 27, 2011
I would say adding a change up would be nice but hes kinda good already
NotJoeTorre - September 27, 2011
Yeah, BRoxton was a horrible closer if you ignore his time as a great closer.
fbihop - September 27, 2011
he was bad except when he was great
Hollywood Joe - September 27, 2011
and he was almost exclusively great for four years
G.Scott - September 27, 2011
I didn't mean Brox was horrible
but it seems its going to end horribly for him
JLS23 - September 27, 2011
trying to compare pitchers, especially after one of them has only thrown 80 MLB innings, is like comparing apples and motorcycles.
G.Scott - September 27, 2011
but they both taste good
Hollywood Joe - September 27, 2011
I was just typing, “Motorcycles taste better than apples.” Damn you, HJ!
fbihop - September 27, 2011
Hey Coach, what kind of gas do you use to pump those kegs?
Probably unleaded.
G.Scott - September 27, 2011
Apple sausage is fucking delicious
Eric Stephen - September 27, 2011
I wanted him to close initially
but this is the ideal spot for him, to either serve as a setup man or someone who takes care of inherited runners
shaqfor3 - September 27, 2011
How is Jansen a rookie?
Didn’t he pitch too many innings last year?
drulenarendes - September 27, 2011
27IP last year
G.Scott - September 27, 2011
Okay
Was thinking it was a lot more than that.
drulenarendes - September 27, 2011
Whatta Putz.
JLS23 - September 27, 2011
damn
Tommy Blackjack - September 27, 2011
That DB rattle sound effect is much better and more tolerable than other team’s rally calls.
berkowit28 - September 27, 2011 via mobile
i thought someone was unscrewing my window and breaking in Despicable Me style.
G.Scott - September 27, 2011
He took that change up right down the middle
Joey Joe - September 27, 2011
welp
at least Kemp will get another PA (providing that the bullpen can keep it a tie)
shaqfor3 - September 27, 2011
Sean Burroughs? Seriously?
JLS23 - September 27, 2011
Hey, Josh, no more hanging sliders, mmk pumpkin?
G.Scott - September 27, 2011
trivia Answer: August 26th
Question: When is the last time Kenley Jansen pitched and didn’t strike someone out.
G.Scott - September 27, 2011
Launch a full investigation
Eric Stephen - September 27, 2011
Looking at Scott Van Slyke’s numbers…he might be a player.
If the Dodgers could just take their good bats, and teach them the tougher positions (3rd base)…they could create some legit hitting prospects.
Joey Joe - September 27, 2011
Van Slyke is a okay defender, thats all I ever got from seeing him play
NotJoeTorre - September 27, 2011
If I could teach a tiger to not eat meat, I’d have a badass housecat.
G.Scott - September 27, 2011
it’s incredibly easy, tell him Wash
Hollywood Joe - September 27, 2011
he’d eat bodhi :(
Maddz - September 27, 2011
are we back at
why can’t Juan Pierre play SS?
Hollywood Joe - September 27, 2011
3rd base isnt hard though…at least compared to middle infield, catcher, or even RF.
Joey Joe - September 27, 2011
3rd base is pretty god damn hard at any competitive level, to be honest.
G.Scott - September 27, 2011
not to be contrary just setting it straight. It’s harder than learning how to catch.
G.Scott - September 27, 2011
My Grandpa, who played everywhere on the diamond
said he hated playing third. he took a fair share of hits off the dome
Tommy Blackjack - September 27, 2011
no
Van Slyke is RH

berkowit28 - September 27, 2011 via mobile
In his last 6 games (5.2 IP), Josh Lindblom has one walk and 12 strikeouts
Eric Stephen - September 27, 2011
Well, tonight at least Kemp gets the same number of PA batting 3rd as 1st.
berkowit28 - September 27, 2011 via mobile
Fuck yes D
Eric Stephen - September 27, 2011
Excellent
Julio Nievas - September 27, 2011

Because you forgot the fastest guy in the state is on 2nd?
fbihop - September 27, 2011
What a wonderfully stupid decision by Owings! What was he t hinking??

wukunlin - September 27, 2011
nvm
wukunlin - September 27, 2011
Now Kemp only needs to go 8-8!
Eric Stephen - September 27, 2011
So we're rooting for 4 more innings tonight? ;-)
underdog - September 27, 2011

Tommy Blackjack - September 27, 2011
They probably give him a single there
Joey Joe - September 27, 2011
I think

shaqfor3 - September 27, 2011
I swear, I stopped in here and before I could even type "A rabbit is loose!" after Dee got to 2nd
he was already home!
underdog - September 27, 2011
He’s THAT fast.
fbihop - September 27, 2011
I think he was already home before I got home, before the last inning started.
underdog - September 27, 2011
Dammit
If Upton hadn’t cut that one off
Paul Udani - September 27, 2011
their defense is all over the place
reminds of that game last year when they made 6 errors
wukunlin - September 27, 2011
YEAH
JIM!!
Tommy Blackjack - September 27, 2011
Running up the score!!!
LOL
Paul Udani - September 27, 2011
Stop now so Guerra can get another save.
Joey Joe - September 27, 2011
I was gonna say not to worry since Miles is batting
But even he walks
Paul Udani - September 27, 2011
jim power
wukunlin - September 27, 2011
heh, Brewers blog commenters are rooting hard for Dodgers, more excited than we are.
underdog - September 27, 2011
what
why? field advantage?
Maddz - September 27, 2011
They are competing with Dbax for the #2 playoff seed
and to avoid Phillies to start the playoffs.
underdog - September 27, 2011
Its either going to be Dbax at Brewers.
Or Dbax at Phillies
Joey Joe - September 27, 2011
Tomorrow’s game means nothing for the Dbax, so I wonder who they even play.
Joey Joe - September 27, 2011
this is funny actually, read the last part of this thread

I still always celebrate the regular Roman January 1 one more because that is also my birthday.
underdog - September 27, 2011
there's only one X, man.
underdog - September 27, 2011
that's why the other one

Tommy Blackjack - September 27, 2011
As they should! ;-)
underdog - September 27, 2011
hahaha
Tommy Blackjack - September 27, 2011
Road Loney!!!
Haven’t heard that one in a while
Bard in Black - September 27, 2011
This 10th inning is so good for the Dodgers that Aaron Miles just got a walk.
fbihop - September 27, 2011
The Dbax pitching coach is like…“Micah, this will not get you on the playoff roster”
Joey Joe - September 27, 2011
OK, the hissing is just kind of sad at this point.
fbihop - September 27, 2011
So Arizona will begin the playoffs either in Philly (if Braves win WC) or in Milwaukee (if St. Louis wins WC)
Eric Stephen - September 27, 2011
Off Upton’s face!
Eric Stephen - September 27, 2011

Joey Joe - September 27, 2011
OMG that hit poor Upton in the face. Bad luck there
but the rest of the play was cool.
underdog - September 27, 2011
Upton
don’t look too good.
Tommy Blackjack - September 27, 2011
Arizona should just call the mercy rule. No reason to continue this game.
Tripon - September 27, 2011
It's been a bad week for Upton eh?
Paul Udani - September 27, 2011
and he just had a concussion too...
i shouldnt laught but that was funny
Joey Joe - September 27, 2011
That had to hurt. Good lord.
Julio Nievas - September 27, 2011
especially when playoffs are just around the corner
wukunlin - September 27, 2011
holy shit
wukunlin - September 27, 2011
That’s the farthest a ball hit by Upton has traveled against the Dodgers this season.
Eric Stephen - September 27, 2011
dammit Eric
Tommy Blackjack - September 27, 2011
hah
Phil Gurnee - September 27, 2011
When somebody says "in your face"
I don’t think that’s what they meant
Paul Udani - September 27, 2011
Hope Upton is OK. Good player, fun to watch and he just had a concussion.
fbihop - September 27, 2011
same here
Tommy Blackjack - September 27, 2011
Probably should not have been playing, no? When I heard he vomited after getting nailed in the head, I figured he was done until the playoffs.
Xeifrank - September 27, 2011
He passed the Gibson impact test
Phil Gurnee - September 27, 2011
Should have been. But athletes are dumb about their own health.
fbihop - September 27, 2011
Sounds like Doctor George is on their medical staff.
Xeifrank - September 27, 2011
If the Dodgers were in the playoffs
They would have to be the favorites
of most of the people here. :)
But seriously they’ve been nuts up recently.
Xeifrank - September 27, 2011
Well yeah, because its so much easier to hit when you’re on a bad team. That’s why all the best hitters are on bad teams.
/Dumb logic
fbihop - September 27, 2011
That’s what I’ve always thought, but, then again, I’m stupid.
iiidown - September 27, 2011
nuts up
I’m buying
Hollywood Joe - September 27, 2011
Dbax should let a position player pitch.
Joey Joe - September 27, 2011
They tried that and he threw the ball into left field.
G.Scott - September 27, 2011
HITNG
Eric Stephen - September 27, 2011
they do
NotJoeTorre - September 27, 2011
Micah Owings was 7-0 this season before tonight

They still have their infield up?
Why?
Paul Udani - September 27, 2011
they no likey more runs score
Tommy Blackjack - September 27, 2011
Run differential
Phil Gurnee - September 27, 2011
Hats off to Ned
for what he said about Uribe on Tilden today. In summary:
-He needs to get in shape
-He needs to get passionate about it
-This is an example why he hates the free agent market – you’re stuck with someone that the org couldn’t fill internally
silverwidow - September 27, 2011
How many out of shape assholes can Ned sign?
NotJoeTorre - September 27, 2011

G.Scott - September 27, 2011
that cat has huge ears
Maddz - September 27, 2011
YOU MUST ADOPT PONGO BODHI NEEDS A FRIEND!
(sorry)
underdog - September 27, 2011
dude Bodhi definitely needs a friend. Tonight we played “Receipt”. This is a game where I take a receipt out of my purse, make it into a ball, and fling it across the living room. Bodhi loves Receipt.
We are going to get the other cat first, move it into the apartment, and then bring Bodhi along. I have discovered he feels less threatened when he moves into another cat’s territory. Go figure
Maddz - September 27, 2011
Yay
underdog - September 27, 2011
heh
our youngest cat spends most of his time annoying the two older ones.
Tommy Blackjack - September 27, 2011
That is what young folk do:)
Phil Gurnee - September 27, 2011
now are we annoying?
or do the old folk just let themselves be annoyed? :)
Tommy Blackjack - September 27, 2011
Young Folks?
One of my favorite songs ever. Not sure if anyone outside of Josie will appreciate it.
fbihop - September 27, 2011
he actually
got a bit of his ear taken off. Not a lot, he just has a small piece missing, so now he looks like a cat whose seen the streets.
Tommy Blackjack - September 27, 2011
Didnt Uribe look the same as he ever has this year?
He was always pudgy
Joey Joe - September 27, 2011
I was curious
Before

After

G.Scott - September 27, 2011
wtf kind of comparison is this
Maddz - September 27, 2011
couldn’t find a 2010 Uribe mugshot, despite him playing for the Giants
G.Scott - September 27, 2011
Dude appears to have some major tiny ears
Phil Gurnee - September 27, 2011
so his head grew?
he’s been hanging out with Bonds
Tommy Blackjack - September 27, 2011
I dont think it has anything to do with shape for Uribe.
He just had a crappy Juan Uribe white sox era year.
Ron Belliard was fat and no one complained when he was hitting.
Joey Joe - September 27, 2011
same here
really, looking at him from the side, the dude ain’t really fat. He’s wide for sure, but I never really saw a gut.
Tommy Blackjack - September 27, 2011
the oblique and hip flexor injuries might point to something though
Maddz - September 27, 2011
he looks loaded
NotJoeTorre - September 27, 2011
Apparently Upton was never diagnosed with a concussion. But, hell, I don’t trust that.
If it were Kemp, I’d want him to sit until the playoffs. Home field advantage not worth it if he’s possibly hurt.
fbihop - September 27, 2011
if the guy is vomitting
I’d get a second opinion on it. :)
Xeifrank - September 27, 2011

G.Scott - September 27, 2011
Sweeping the postseason bound Diamondbacks in Arizona would be a nice way to cap one hell of a 2nd half
Phil Gurnee - September 27, 2011

Tommy Blackjack - September 27, 2011
Considering the lineup the DBacks will put forward tomorrow with no incentive to play…

fbihop - September 27, 2011
i remember Loney getting ejected

Tommy Blackjack - September 27, 2011
Kemp’s was June 25, at the height of Dodger fan pessimism.
fbihop - September 27, 2011
I'm disappointed!
I thought for sure there’d be a GIF of the Upton play up here already. Or, is that just crossing the line?
TopDeckTrueBlue - September 27, 2011
I'm thinking
that the three homers by Fielder might actually be a good thing for Matt’s MVP chances… Might make him split votes with Braun
Bard in Black - September 27, 2011
Eric

The worse that could happen is a tie game and extra at bats for Sands and Kemp. I see no downside here.
Phil Gurnee - September 27, 2011
Guerra only 1 homer in 46 innings this year.
Joey Joe - September 27, 2011
the bases are loaded? oh lol
NotJoeTorre - September 27, 2011
He keeps throwing it into the dirt
berkowit28 - September 27, 2011 via mobile

Phil Gurnee - September 27, 2011

Paul Udani - September 27, 2011
Holy no way we lost it like that
Jack Huber - September 27, 2011
You've gotta be kidding me
shaqfor3 - September 27, 2011
Wow
Eric Stephen - September 27, 2011
i can't fucking believe this
Tommy Blackjack - September 27, 2011
Wow
Julio Nievas - September 27, 2011
Our bullpen has run out of steam!
latenite - September 27, 2011
thats fucking hilarious
NotJoeTorre - September 27, 2011
LOL
eitherethier - September 27, 2011
1 fucking out

shaqfor3 - September 27, 2011
So much for the easy save.
berkowit28 - September 27, 2011 via mobile
HOLY SHIT!
Joey Joe - September 27, 2011
That dude was doing the Gibby Thing
Phil Gurnee - September 27, 2011
Tomorrow is HBP fest :)
Eric Stephen - September 27, 2011
on purpose too
Tommy Blackjack - September 27, 2011
If Gibby was not his manager I’d hit him every time up next year. But since he is, all I can do is laugh.
Phil Gurnee - September 27, 2011
Hope he broke his fucking leg jumping on the plate and misses the post-season
TopDeckTrueBlue - September 27, 2011
Well
That little problem turned into a loss…
Fucking fuckity fuck
Paul Udani - September 27, 2011
WTF Phil!!!
NotJoeTorre - September 27, 2011
LOL
Phil Gurnee - September 27, 2011
JEEZUS
I am sorry Brewers. :-(
I don’t even want to feel bad for another team either. So screw you Brewers! And Dbacks! And Dodgers!
underdog - September 27, 2011
LOL Bullpen
shaqfor3 - September 27, 2011
LOL Hawk, more like it.
Have some faith, remember the fundamentals, ya fuck.
TopDeckTrueBlue - September 27, 2011
AND KEMP DOESN’T GET ANOTHER AB!
fbihop - September 27, 2011
6 runs after 2 were out to lose.
Wow.
Joey Joe - September 27, 2011
Micah Owens 8-0
eitherethier - September 27, 2011
Wins are such an awesome stat.
fbihop - September 27, 2011
F you for doing the fist pump. I don’t care if it’s relevant.
G.Scott - September 27, 2011
yeah that was kinda lame
NotJoeTorre - September 27, 2011
Actually it was kind of clever. It was a proper homage to his manager.
berkowit28 - September 27, 2011 via mobile
YEah, bean him tomorrow.
I can’t believe how unhappy this makes me.
TopDeckTrueBlue - September 27, 2011
But thats his manager.
So its probably an homage to it
Joey Joe - September 27, 2011
no doubt.
it’s not a beanable offense or anything, don’t get me wrong. Dude was just excited.
G.Scott - September 27, 2011
look what you've done Hawk
you made Eugenio teary eyed!
shaqfor3 - September 27, 2011
2nd seed still in play
Eric Stephen - September 27, 2011
I feel upset, and I shouldn't really. Blargh!
underdog - September 27, 2011
I dont even care, that was fun
NotJoeTorre - September 27, 2011
Those are great baseball moments.
And with the Dodgers out of it…its entertaining no matter what team does it (as long as its not the Giants).
Joey Joe - September 27, 2011
Nah, I dislike the Diamondbacks more than I do the Giants.
I hate all expansion teams.
TopDeckTrueBlue - September 27, 2011
whoa, what was that
dodgerpreacher - September 27, 2011
Micah Owings the least deserving winning pitcher ever.
Joey Joe - September 27, 2011
I remember Billy Koch winning 8 games one year. That was nuts.
G.Scott - September 27, 2011
Unbelievable
tjoabq - September 27, 2011
Hawk should've covered the bag huh?
WTF
Paul Udani - September 27, 2011
DFA Hawk, Guerra, Miles, Kemp!
Freddy V - September 27, 2011
move along folks.
nothing to see here…
funkyjam - September 27, 2011
I predicted the future
shaqfor3 - September 27, 2011
Honestly, I’m finding it hard to be too broken up about this right now.
fbihop - September 27, 2011
Though this does mean Braun will play the entire game tomorrow….
fbihop - September 27, 2011
i'm not broken up
just kinda PO’d. I don’t like watching bullpen meltdowns.
Tommy Blackjack - September 27, 2011
We are so hitting Roberts tomorrow
Paul Udani - September 27, 2011
Yeah, hard to be too upset
That was hilarious, and hopefully Ned realizes that Hawksworth belongs in Albuquerque next season.
The Dude Abides - September 27, 2011
Her sister can stay though
Paul Udani - September 27, 2011
That’ll teach Hawksworth not to cover first base. I feel sorry for Guerra. He had sat down twice in the bullpen already, and wasn’t ready for this.
berkowit28 - September 27, 2011 via mobile
I’m just laughing really. That was funny.
dodgerpreacher - September 27, 2011
I laughed too, it was almost as if he cared more about poking fun at his manager than he did about hitting the walkoff. It was all so meaningless, just kinda made me laugh. Plus the camera hung on Velez for awhile after, no better way to visually represent the fail that had just occurred
Table - September 27, 2011
that was hard to fathom
Tatatouille hitting a walk off against Guava. Then the lame Gibson fist pumping antic.
Xeifrank - September 27, 2011
My stepbro and I have had a running conversation
regarding the most WPA in a single play. This was one such scenario, and although we weren’t sure if an all-star closer or a scrub closer made a difference, but we presumed one of the highest would occur in such a scenario. I can’t wait to see the WPA here.
Talka1ot - September 27, 2011
89.3 WPA
What the fuck.
Talka1ot - September 27, 2011
This has to be the most sudden re-write of a game recap in TBLA history.
I cant remember blowing a 5run lead AFTER 2 were out.
Joey Joe - September 27, 2011
and nobody on basee
Eric Stephen - September 27, 2011
or base
Eric Stephen - September 27, 2011
All your basee are belong to us.
fbihop - September 27, 2011
Time for all of us to play, “Find the things that he forgot to change!”
fbihop - September 27, 2011
The most I can remember was a 4-run lead with two out and nobody on in Atlanta
I think it was in 1980, but not sure. Freddie Hubbard hit a three-run homer off Stanhouse to win it. That rally also started on a derp play. Ron Cey let a ball go through his legs for an error with two out and nobody on base.
The Dude Abides - September 27, 2011
I take that back, just found the box score
It was only a 3-run lead with two outs, and the game-winning HR was by Glenn Hubbard. I forgot that I used to always call him Freddie 30 years ago as well.

The Dude Abides - September 27, 2011
this cat obviously saw that last AB
I mean can you blame him?
Maddz - September 27, 2011
That was amazing
Alex41592 - September 27, 2011 via mobile
No Hawksworth next year?
worth it
sumo390 - September 27, 2011
whatever
the fact that we got a living breathing human being for Theriot makes the trade worth it x 10000
and he hasn’t been THAT bad at all
Maddz - September 27, 2011
Could have just DFA’ed Theriot
Joey Joe - September 27, 2011
yeah
but instead, they got a fairly decent relief pitcher
Maddz - September 27, 2011
I think he means it was a good deal
NotJoeTorre - September 27, 2011
I refuse to believe Joey Joe would agree with me on anything ever :)
Maddz - September 27, 2011
Really? He said we should’ve DFA’d (non-tendered) Theriot. Implies he thinks no Theriot/no Hawksworth > no Theriot/With Hawksworth
G.Scott - September 27, 2011
Hell
we traded Ryan Theriot for $3M + 5 years of Blake Hawksworth control. Hawksworth has so little service time that even after this year, next year we’ll tell him how much he’s making.
G.Scott - September 27, 2011
non-tendered.
but we got a serviceable relief pitcher playing at league minimum and four years of team control instead
G.Scott - September 27, 2011
he wasn’t ready for the Loney range
NotJoeTorre - September 27, 2011
Gone.
latenite - September 27, 2011
I really, really like Hawksworth. I can’t for the life of me remember his first name.
G.Scott - September 27, 2011
Blake
Maddz - September 27, 2011
not my fault. he has a dumb first name.

Talka1ot - September 27, 2011
daron sutton must have psychic powers
Because in the top of the 10th, after the Dodgers were up I think 4-1…he said something like “If you guys are watching on replay…something amazing happens in the bottom of the 10th”…He actually said this it was crazy.
Joey Joe - September 27, 2011
We lost?????? WTF I turned the game off and thought it was over
JLS23 - September 27, 2011
now we can blame you!
NotJoeTorre - September 27, 2011
Dammit
Had we won that, Fielder would’ve probably been rested tomorrow…
Paul Udani - September 27, 2011
I was driving on the 10
Laughed uncontrollably for five straight minutes. You gotta laugh.
Alex41592 - September 27, 2011 via mobile
I was too
shaqfor3 - September 27, 2011
haha love it :-)
JLS23 - September 27, 2011
No it’s not just because of tonight, but I’m just not so sure Guerra is solid for closer next year.
Freddy V - September 27, 2011
DFA Hawksworth, Miles.
Guerra just lost 2012 closer job
lnickerson88 - September 27, 2011 via mobile
You people are funny.
Eric Stephen - September 27, 2011
seriously
this kinda stuff makes me lose my anger.
Tommy Blackjack - September 27, 2011
isn’t Miles on a 1 year contract? Hawk is under team control. Be srs
Maddz - September 27, 2011
lol
shaqfor3 - September 27, 2011
Smallest of the SSSs
fbihop - September 27, 2011
Loney fucked up for being such a boss on the defense
NotJoeTorre - September 27, 2011
it might open the closer job up for Jansen..
But..the last time Jansen tried to save a game…he gave it up vs the Astros after 2 were out. Althought not in as dramatic fashion.
Joey Joe - September 27, 2011
Jansen had 3 saves since that game.
G.Scott - September 27, 2011
That ending was shocking. I mean, you should have seen the look on Justin Upton’s face.
Eric Stephen - September 27, 2011
Sad that Guerra gets the loss
That was all thanks to the Hawk’s assumption that Loney wouldn’t make that play.
TomasC - September 27, 2011 via iPhone app
Did that really just happen?
Maybe they wanted to give up the tie to give Kemp more ABs.
WLPublic - September 27, 2011
KCAL really needs a post game show
NotJoeTorre - September 27, 2011
feel sorry for the degens

Alex41592 - September 27, 2011 via mobile
Well, I no longer feel bad about laughing at the GIF of Upton getting hit in the face.
fbihop - September 27, 2011
WIN!
JLS23 - September 27, 2011
Even if we won
I would’ve still kept laughing
Paul Udani - September 27, 2011

WTF DID I JUST WATCH
wukunlin - September 27, 2011
2 girls 1 cup strikes again
G.Scott - September 27, 2011
2 hawks 1 pitch
wukunlin - September 27, 2011
Hawksworth coming back next year?
[x] No
[ ] Yes
wukunlin - September 27, 2011
econ + good sense says
yes
Hollywood Joe - September 27, 2011
and, you know, him being okay at baseball.
G.Scott - September 27, 2011
Just as long as he plays the Jon Link role
The Dude Abides - September 27, 2011
FIP and xFIP in the mid-3’s from a middle reliever at league minimum is good.
G.Scott - September 27, 2011
But not when there are better options available
Hawk doesn’t strike out enough guys when compared with Lindblom, Tolleson, Guerra, and Jansen. We’re stuck with Guerrier. And we’ll need Elbert from the left side, and I’d rather have St. Clair than Hawk on the big club.
The Dude Abides - September 27, 2011
yes
NotJoeTorre - September 27, 2011
The anger subsided when I realized
We’ve already clinched a winning record… Thanks rainout in WSH…
Paul Udani - September 27, 2011
I just realized who hit the grand slam
Ryan “I will kill all of your dreams” Roberts – same guy who dinged Kuroda last year. Fucker.
TopDeckTrueBlue - September 27, 2011
I'M SORRY BUT WTF
I had to work tonight. I checked the score as I was leaving. Dodgers score 5 in the 10th, up 6-1. Well, I’m not gonna listen to the end of that game. Come here to check in and EXCUSE ME BUT WTF HAPPENED?
Humma Kavula - September 27, 2011
Also, Hawk got the first two outs
Next guy hit a slow chopper behind first base, Hawk had a brain cramp and didn’t cover first. The runner beat him to the bag when he realized that Loney actually fielded the ball. Then a single, walk, an error by Miles on a pretty hard hit ball right to him…eventually Guerra came in, gave up a bases-loaded walk, then a granny to Roberts.
The Dude Abides - September 27, 2011
Seriously. He didn’t pitch poorly, just had a couple unfortunate mishaps.
G.Scott - September 27, 2011
You're right, he didn't pitch poorly for the most part
Montero hit the ball hard, McDonald hit the ball fairly hard. I forgot what Young did. The thing is, Hawk needed a K and didn’t get one. He constantly gets two strikes on guys but doesn’t really have an out pitch.
The Dude Abides - September 27, 2011
Yeah I stopped listening when sellers came in to pinch hit. Turned it back on in time to hear the grand slam. The funny thing is, I called it. I said to myself, oh man he walked a batter. Shit, now he’s going to make a bad pitch, hr, game over. I was hoping that I was wrong :(
lnickerson88 - September 27, 2011 via mobile
since i seem to be getting angry responses
To my anti hawksworth ranting, I am curious: how would you improve the 2012 bullpen?
lnickerson88 - September 27, 2011 via mobile
I just got here, so I have no idea what happened in this particular game. But:
The bullpen might be in the Dodgers’ top ten problems, but it might not be. One cannot plan for a good bullpen. Shit is gonna happen, and good pitchers will suddenly be bad, and bad pitchers will suddenly be good.
Humma Kavula - September 27, 2011
if by “angry” you mean “not agreeing with you”, then yes.
I would improve the bullpen by giving Kuo confidence, Belisario a visa, and Lance Cormier a kick in the nuts.
/nothatseriousbutkindof
Maddz - September 27, 2011
still upset with Cormier or just fearing his spring invitee clone army?
Table - September 27, 2011
the army will rise
G.Scott - September 27, 2011
Don’t care about Cormier. Sad about Kuo, kind of WTF about Belisario. I personally think that the bullpen is what it is: a crapshoot of NRI dudes who kind of work, don’t work, and do work. The end.
Maddz - September 27, 2011
True or false: if a pitcher was any good, he’d be a starter.
Humma Kavula - September 27, 2011
I want to say true, kind of.
You can be really good but only have two pitches. Then you’re kind of bullpen4lyfe at that point.
Maddz - September 27, 2011
My feeling is that for most of humanity, it is sorta-kinda true.
For most of humanity, if you are not good, you will go to the bullpen, where you will be good and not good, alternately, and seemingly at random, for years, until you are not good for too many years and then you will be out of a job.
And then there are the Mariano Riveras and Trevor Hoffmans of the world. I don’t know if Trevor Hoffman deserves the Hall of Fame simply because he didn’t suck for many, many, many, many years, but he might, and after a long, shitty day, I’d like to feel generous.
Humma Kavula - September 27, 2011
non-tender Kuo.
Guerra, Jansen, Elbert, Guerrier, Lindblom, Hawksworth, NRI done
G.Scott - September 27, 2011
Addition by Subtraction
Guerra
Jansen
Elbert
Lindblom
Tolleson
St.CLair
Guerrier
at some point I would like to see something like this. Maybe just a different left hander than St.Clair is all
