The Dodgers on Tuesday announced their spring training television schedule, which includes 18 games televised in HD. Fifteen games from Camelback Ranch will be televised — all of their designated home games — including 13 on Prime Ticket and two on KCAL. Charley Steiner and Rick Monday will call nine of the 15 televised games in Arizona, with Eric Collins and Steve Lyons calling the other six.
Vin Scully will broadcast three games this spring, including two in Arizona, on March 17 and March 18.
Scully will also call the April 3 game when the Dodgers return home to Dodger Stadium to host the Angels in the Freeway Series. The other two Freeway Series games will be televised by Fox Sports West, with the Angels' broadcast team.
Last year, the Dodgers televised 14 Cactus League games. Here is a list of the televised games this spring.

The March 19 game at Cleveland is on Sports Time Ohio. Not sure which systems carry that channel.
Eric Stephen - February 7, 2012
Looking at that list of announcers
Makes me wonder if the Dodgers have any good announcing prospects coming up through the minor leagues. Without Scully, that would be a below league average group. Not that any MLB announcers ever get handed a job right out of spring training or anything.
Xeifrank - February 7, 2012
What I dont get is I thought Dodgers sent home questionnaires asking fans to rate these announcers, and yet there all back. wtf?? So either they didnt give a shit what people thought, or maybe fans gave them positive reviews?? I cant imagine that.
uschris0304 - February 7, 2012
I thought forsure some of them were gonna get the boot…. maybe thats being left to the new owners as well I guess.
uschris0304 - February 7, 2012
A company initiative that died on the vine? Inconceivable
mleadman - February 7, 2012
Yes
the fans actually like them.
nolander - February 7, 2012
I think that most of the respondents probably think the non-Scully announcers are fine, because they really are. If the results came back ZOMG STYNER SUX, they may have reacted differently.
Nolij - February 7, 2012
Josh Rawitch actually addressed this when we met with him and he said the vast majority of fans liked the current group of announcers.
G.Scott - February 7, 2012
sheep
Phil Gurnee - February 7, 2012
A lame duck owner has other things to worry about., like who will pay him the most. You may well see changes in 2013.
Little Blue Bicycle - February 7, 2012
too bad they don’t have a VP of Communications or a President to handle such matters. At least we can turn to CEO Jamie McCou..
G.Scott - February 7, 2012
The Dodgers version of the announcing minor leagues
wouldshould be about 22 of the major league teams Steiner and Monday take a lot of crap here, but they’d probably rank around the middle of MLB broadcasting teams.Nolij - February 7, 2012
When's the next broadcaster draft? I think they have a pretty high pick this year.
underdog - February 7, 2012
Silverwidow made me look fondly back at the Slurpee discussion.
Eric Stephen - February 7, 2012
Straw man argument.
kinbote - February 7, 2012
Does MLBTV have any of these ST games for free, or do you have to buy a spring training-only package?
(which is BS)
underdog - February 7, 2012
I feel like in past years ST has been free as an advertisement for MLB.tv. It’s the Hulu of MLB.tv
Josie Becker - February 7, 2012
Right now
it cost 24.99 as part of the off-season package. They have not offered the full season package yet.
bhsportsguy - February 7, 2012
Not sure if I will do the full season MLB and MiLB package again this year. It was nice to have but I felt like I needed to watch a ton of games to make it worth the money. But I’d rather spend the time with my family than watch the Mariners take on the Orioles.
Xeifrank - February 7, 2012
Lots of televised action. What’s the consensus on how many contestable roster spots we currently have?
kinbote - February 7, 2012
One. Does Sands make the roster or not?
Nolij - February 7, 2012
I was wondering if they are planning on making rivera and sands the RH platoon of Either/Loney
Lex in Brooklyn - February 7, 2012
If Sands makes this roster I think he plays every day or nearly every day, with Rivera filling in here and there for Loney, Ethier, and Sands.
Eric Stephen - February 7, 2012
I say yes
Tommy Blackjack - February 7, 2012 via iPhone app
Without injury 1. Probably between Fields/Ojeltan/Sands
If Hawksworth doesn’t come back soon enough it’s Lindblom/Grabow
regfairfield - February 7, 2012
And unless Sands blows everyone away he probably goes to AAA till someone gets injured
nolander - February 7, 2012
Yep.
regfairfield - February 7, 2012
I'm actually not sure he really has a shot at the job at all
barring injury. Unless Fields and Ojeltan are complete and utter shite… and not even then.
nolander - February 7, 2012
I could see keeping him in as a platoon guy.
regfairfield - February 7, 2012
I have a weird feeling that either Cory Sullivan or whatever a Lance Zawadzki is will Vector his way into that spot
Nolij - February 7, 2012
Good, cause Cory Sullivan owns.
regfairfield - February 7, 2012
Career OPS+ of 79 and never higher than 93. I do think he has as much to offer as Oeltjen though.
Nolij - February 7, 2012
All time leader in line drive percentage!
regfairfield - February 7, 2012
Am I the only one who likes Oeltjen?
fbihop - February 7, 2012
I mean besides the ladies
fbihop - February 7, 2012
I think he can do pretty much anything, just none of it very well which is just fine for a 5th outfielder.
regfairfield - February 7, 2012
He is fast as hell. A rabbit, if you will.
fbihop - February 7, 2012
I like his on base skills
Lex in Brooklyn - February 7, 2012
And his “Making Dexter Fowler screw up and let the ball get past him to the wall” skills.
fbihop - February 7, 2012
follow the white rabbit
G.Scott - February 7, 2012
then go ask Alice
When she’s ten feet tall
Tommy Blackjack - February 7, 2012 via iPhone app
Maybe the best Sopranos ever.
kinbote - February 7, 2012
Fear and Loathing did it better
Josie Becker - February 7, 2012
Matrix was best
G.Scott - February 7, 2012
Yeah, pretty much two spots. One bench spot and one relief spot.
Until we have 4-5 injuries on March 8 and a wide open roster.
Eric Stephen - February 7, 2012
what a shitty day that’ll be
G.Scott - February 7, 2012
Vin loves the Green Dodger hats
bhsportsguy - February 7, 2012
They probably should have secured that before sending out their GD spring broadcast schedule.
Eric Stephen - February 7, 2012
Vin saw the schedule and said, “Aw HEEEEEELL naw” and got right on it.
Nolij - February 7, 2012
Then Vin punched an alien and said “Welcome to earf”
Eric Stephen - February 7, 2012
wow. the only two games I’ll be attending at camelback
court168627 - February 7, 2012 via Android app
If you see Vinny, sing to him to an old song, he’s a sucker for em.
Phil Gurnee - February 7, 2012
Moon River
wider than a mile…
Xeifrank - February 7, 2012
silverwidow - February 7, 2012
61 in camp, including Belisario.
Wouldn’t shock me if Russ Mitchell makes 62 once they outright him to Triple A
Eric Stephen - February 7, 2012
Gonna be a packed clubhouse this spring. Who will have the trash can parked outside their locker this year?
Xeifrank - February 7, 2012
Plenty of room in the Camelback Ranch clubhouse
FWIW, last spring began with 60 players in major league camp
Eric Stephen - February 7, 2012
Eric's soon to be AZ neighbor tweets
bhsportsguy - February 7, 2012
NRI of the year.
regfairfield - February 7, 2012
Obligatory Jamey on roster.
kinbote - February 7, 2012
We are running low on Blakes
Eric Stephen - February 7, 2012
We are the Pirates:
Guzman
Fields
Wright
Phil Gurnee - February 7, 2012
makes me want cookies
G.Scott - February 7, 2012
Although EJax probably wouldn't have turned down a 3 year deal from the Dodgers, amirite?
underdog - February 7, 2012
I liked Jaret better.
Nolij - February 7, 2012
was it just a few days ago that Xeifrank was touting the Nuggets as the best team in the West?
Phil Gurnee - February 7, 2012
all five teams in that division are .500 or better.
Phil Gurnee - February 7, 2012
Best team based on “merit” in the west. That is no longer the case. I believe the Thunder have now passed them up with the Blazers #2.
Xeifrank - February 7, 2012
Spurs up there too.
Xeifrank - February 7, 2012

Ryen Russillo on ESPN radio brought up something interesting
talking about the Kobe/Magic talk as greatest Laker ever (Magic and Shaq both said Kobe), and both Russillo and Scott Van Pelt said Magic is the greatest Laker ever (I agree).
But what Russillo said that piqued my interest was that he thought a team of five Magics would beat any team made up of five of any basketball player ever. I had never thought about it like that, but given Magic’s Liam Neeson-esque “unique set of skills” (size and ball handling) maybe it would come down to 5 Magics vs. 5 Big O’s for the title.
Jerry West especially would thrive in this method, as I’m sure several other greats would. I like the concept.
Eric Stephen - February 7, 2012
I wonder if you could get the
Early Magic, then MVP Magic and finally Power Forward Magic on that squad. 5 LeBron James would be a tough match up too.
bhsportsguy - February 7, 2012
Damn, same thought in my mind.
World Champion Magic Rookie year at Center
Point Guard Magic
Then 3 point shooting Magic
Phil Gurnee - February 7, 2012
My mind is blown at Magic flipping a no-look pass to Magic for the dunk.
Eric Stephen - February 7, 2012
Magic
not the fastest guy on the team and did not have the greatest hops.
bhsportsguy - February 7, 2012
Tell that to Dr. Posterized
I have never seen that photo before in my life. Awesome.
Eric Stephen - February 7, 2012
Looking Beamonesque.
Nolij - February 7, 2012
Yes!
Eric Stephen - February 7, 2012
The NBA could totally make that commercial. It would be even better than the one they have with all the other teams.
Nolij - February 7, 2012
If the NFL can merge together 75 years of punt returners, the NBA can have Magic lob to Magic
Josie Becker - February 7, 2012
Yeah, LeBron would be pretty great. Especially maybe 10 years from now when we can look back on LeBron and his then-developed post game.
Eric Stephen - February 7, 2012
baby hook for the win
Phil Gurnee - February 7, 2012
LeBron
would have a problem on the perimeter.
bhsportsguy - February 7, 2012
Grandpa Lebron was kind of a jerk in those commercials.
Nolij - February 7, 2012
I have a feeling a team of Scottie Pippens would be outstanding. Especially if the other four Pippens don’t pout that Pippen gets the last shot. :)
Eric Stephen - February 7, 2012
A team of 5 Lamar Odoms might not be bad. Probably on any given day, one or two of them would be the good Lamar. Hopefully enough to make up for the one pouting because he wants a candy bar.
Nolij - February 7, 2012
The big question here
Would there be five Khloes?
Eric Stephen - February 7, 2012
I agree with Magic being the best Laker
It is hard to explain what watching those 80s teams was like especially if you have watched the NBA for the 5-6 years prior to Magic (and Bird) coming into the league.
It was fun basketball, it was good team basketball. And there was always his big smile.
bhsportsguy - February 7, 2012
Kobe might be a better player but he will never be the better Laker.
Nolij - February 7, 2012
oh yeah? Well if Magic is so great, why no NBA All defensive team?? Kobe got 9 1st team All defense, 2 2nd team all defense…. Kobe is the complete package, he can do it all, zero weakness to his game…. he does it all, does it very well.
uschris0304 - February 7, 2012
I like how you started with “oh yeah?” Like the next part was gonna be “My dad can beat up your dad.”
Nolij - February 7, 2012
haha thats how it was suppose to come across, that was the joke…. because I really hate to get in a debate about who is the best player of all time on my favorite team…. thats said, if I must, im going to have to agree with Magic, even he knows. Kobe does it all on both ends, Magic only 1 end of the floor.
uschris0304 - February 7, 2012
plus, though im not 100% sure, id say Magic over his career with the Lakers had alot better teams to play with then Kobe ever did. Sure Kobe had a Shaq, and then a Gasol, Magic has alot more overall to work with IMO.
uschris0304 - February 7, 2012
Pretty sure the teams the Lakers had to go through to win the titles were also better than the teams that Kobe and Shaq had to go through.
fbihop - February 7, 2012
You make it too easy for people.
Eric Stephen - February 7, 2012
Andre Ethier has a gold glove
Spare me the DPOY credentials.
Michael White - February 7, 2012
Hate to say this….
But I also think 5 Kevin Garnett’s would be up there
as would 5 Hakeems
Lex in Brooklyn - February 7, 2012
No handles.
Nolij - February 7, 2012
KG?
Whatchu talkin’ bout
Dude had handles even out of high school
Lex in Brooklyn - February 7, 2012
He has good handles for a 7-footer, much in the way Russell Martin is fast for a catcher.
Nolij - February 7, 2012
Ditka
I think a team of five Ditka’s wins this easily. Unless of course he were faced off against a team of five Godzilla’s, even then it is probably a toss up.
Xeifrank - February 7, 2012
A lot of RH pitching "depth"
I hope Scott Elbert shows up and dominates. Seriously don’t want to see John Grabow this season
NotJoeTorre - February 7, 2012
Elbert not making the team would be one of the more disappointing turn of events I could think of this spring.
Eric Stephen - February 7, 2012
Grabow is strictly a lefty specialist who is only 2 and 3 years removed from good seasons and is only 33 years old. His oOPS against lefties last year was .715, right in line with his career .713, and if you get that for an NRI spot, so be it.
G.Scott - February 7, 2012
I really don’t remember the team using a loogy all that much
NotJoeTorre - February 7, 2012
I'm not sure of a way to search this
But I searched for teams with the most games by a LH reliever facing two batters or less. Here are the 2011 numbers:
1 FLA 2011 62
2 STL 2011 58
3 NYM 2011 58
4 CIN 2011 57
5 HOU 2011 56
6 SFG 2011 51
7 TBR 2011 49
8 CHC 2011 46
9 MIN 2011 44
10 COL 2011 43
11 BAL 2011 41
12 ARI 2011 41
13 CHW 2011 39
14 PIT 2011 38
15 WSN 2011 37
16 ATL 2011 36
17 LAA 2011 35
18 NYY 2011 34
19 LAD 2011 33
20 CLE 2011 31
21 SDP 2011 29
22 OAK 2011 28
23 TEX 2011 27
24 DET 2011 25
25 KCR 2011 22
26 TOR 2011 21
27 PHI 2011 21
28 BOS 2011 20
29 MIL 2011 17
30 SEA 2011 7
Eric Stephen - February 7, 2012
Some of that is based on the personnel though. If the Dodgers had George Sherrill, they might have LOOGied more.
Nolij - February 7, 2012
If all you can do is get lefties out and you turn the average lefty into a league average hitter, that ain’t a good thing.
regfairfield - February 7, 2012
There is a lot of Nedness in those NRIs. That scares me.
NotJoeTorre - February 7, 2012
They’re NRIs. I wouldn’t lose much sleep over them.
Best case scenario, Dodgers get a Dana Eveland. Worst case scenario, Dodgers cut bait with them after Spring Training.
fbihop - February 7, 2012
Or after the Dodgers blow a game in Chicago
Michael White - February 7, 2012
Don’t blame John Grabow, blame every other left handed pitcher in the org being bad so we have to use John Grabow.
regfairfield - February 7, 2012
dont tell me what to do brah
fuck John Grabow!
NotJoeTorre - February 7, 2012
In case I am not around in ~16 minutes, Brandon’s next prospect rankings post will be up at 1pm.
