True Blue LA

True Blue Los Angeles Fantastical Base Ball League

Welcome ladies, gentlemen, and those who've yet to decide, to the 2012 TBLA Fantasy Baseball League! It's going to be fun, it's going to be awesome, it's going to be super great.

Start here. The league name is True Blue Los Angeles (ID# 22409), our custom URL is http://baseball.fantasysports.yahoo.com/league/trueblue. The password is drematic.

It's a head to head league, with a live draft. The draft will be Thursday, March 1st at 8pm. There is a limit of 12 teams, so I'll update this fanpost as teams are taken. An FYI on the first week:

The Major League Baseball season opens this season on March 28, with the Mariners and Athletics playing a two-game series in Tokyo, Japan. As a result, Yahoo! has combined those two games with the abbreviated opening week for all other teams that begins with the Cardinals-Marlins game on April 4.

Week 1 of the Fantasy Baseball Head-to-Head season will run from March 28-April 8.

**Update**

Ladies and Gentlemen we've got nine teams now, that's three quarters of the league full. Super proud y'all, like a peacock. Get 'em while they're hot!

  • Hollywood Stars (Josie Becker)
  • OC Batmans of LA (Going out on a limb and say nolander)
  • Houston Memes (Nolij)
  • The Kyle Russells (IVDown)
  • Ya Blue It! (funkyjam)
  • Downs Syndrome (IIIDown)
  • Powers of a Mod (David Young)
  • Frogtown Tadpoles
  • Soccer Rules (Xeifrank)

All-star predictions

I'm not sure if you guys normally do this sort of thing and if so, feel free to do anything you want with it but if not, let's just have some fun!

First I'll give you my projections and then let's hold a voting and see how close we get to what's going to happen.
Here are my All-star starting roster predictions.

  1. 1b: Freddie Freeman
  2. 2b: Rickie Weeks
  3. SS: Dee Gordon
  4. 3b: Ryan Zimmerman
  5. SP: Clayton Kershaw
  6. NextP: Roy Halladay
  7. LF: Ryan Braun
  8. CF: Matt Kemp
  9. RF: Mike Stanton
  10. C: Buster Posey

Now, can people name their two top picks for each position in the comments, and I'll count 'em up and see what we've got. Get started!

(The voting should be open for about a week.)

Dodgers.com might have a job opening...

Who's job is it to "verify" the Dodgers Depth Chart on Dodgers.com. Today's depth chart looks just like the Feb. 7th verified depth chart and they both have H. Kuo out of the bullpen! There are others errors as well and they may have not updated it, but why would it say it was verified today. It is misleading to the casual fan and they should pay closer attention to these things. It is better for TrueBlueLA, because people here give a damn about getting things right and fans know where to get the truth!

Law Ranks Dodger System #12

Pretty sure it's behind the paywall - but Keith Law's farm system rankings put the Dodgers at #12. I was pleasantly shocked to see that. John Sickles, who I really trust but was also ranking systems for the first time, put the Dodgers at 22. That was more inline with my expectations.

Law didn't get into a detailed analysis, only referencing the strong pitching and weak hitting, but "If pitching wins championships, the Dodgers are in pretty good shape."

Dodger Blogger Softball Tourney Update

Update:

These are the players who responded to my email:

Josh Schoenwald

AJ Henning

Bobby Down

Brandon Lennox

Brenton, W, Knapp

David G Young

Joe Benardello

Joshua Bramlett

Josie M Becker

Madeleine, C, St. Marie

Matthew Josephson

Phil Gurnee

Russell Frye

These are the players who did not:

Mike Kanaly

Albert Martinez

Naeem Chaudhry

Mike, Albert, Naeem chime in here if you plan on going. You paid but you did not respond to the email I sent out. So either you gave a bogus email, I typed it in wrong, the email went directly to your spam filter, or you simply did not reply.

We want to carpool as much as possible to not only save gas but for camaraderie sakes since spending eight hours together is not enough, might as well add a few hours of car time. Going to the game we can talk about how stupid the manager is going to be, and on the way home we can talk about how stupid the manager was.

People who have volunteered to carpool are:

Joe - seats 4 - Hollywood

David - seats 4 - NorthWest San Fernando Valley

Phil - seats 4 West San Fernando Valley

From what I understand Josh (Deliasman) is picking up Josie so they are covered.

Josh Schoenwald lives on the Westside and would like to carpool. I'd suggest he contact HJ who is in Hollywood. Matthew also resides on the Westside. So that looks like a good match.

I'd suggest Bobby drive with me.

I'd suggest David pickup Maddz and Gary unless they want to drive themselves.

AJ lives in SB and would be welcome to carpool with me but I think he's leaving later and I'll be leaving at a time that will get me to the park by 07:30AM or sooner.

This is the extent of my suggestions. Use the comments to make arrangements.

Below is the information I provided in the Email.

We are using ASA bat rules, USSSA Rules

USSSA Softball Rules

http://www.usssa.com/usssa/usssa-general/2011SPRuleBook.pdf

I'd suggest you hardball players check out the rulebook, many things you do in hardball will not play in softball.

It looks like we are using a 3, -1 Home run rule. Which means that only 3 home runs per team per game will be allowed, and only one home run more then the other team. Any other home runs would be considered outs. I don't anticipate that being a problem for us.

Key Rules:

  • Limited arc
  • Cannot leave the base until the ball is struck by the batter or hits the ground.
  • Max of 12 hitters per lineup
  • Our first game is at 08:00, gates open at 07:00AM. Yeah that is early.

They have four batting cages for practice before the game or during the breaks.

Entrance Fees

  • Patrons 13 years and older pay $3.00 upon entry and will receive a token worth $1.00.
  • Children 12 and under participating in a sport pay $1.00 upon entry and will receive a token worth $1.00
  • The token is redeemable at the park stadium club restaurant or concession stand

  • If you leave the park, and plan to return the same day, please get a hand stamp for re-entry.
  • NO FOOD, BEVERAGES, or ICE CHESTS/COOLERS may be brought into the park.

  • Spectators 12 and under are admitted FREE!

Hopefully it will be a full days worth of five or six games and not the three game minimum.

Any questions leave them in the comments.

DODGERS -- 2 GREAT SEATS FOR SALE

I am a long time season ticket holder looking to sell 1/4, 1/2 or even full season at face (my cost). I have Field level, Section 19, Row C. They are padded seats on the aisle between home and third, behind the Dodgers dugout. Preferred parking too -- Lot F. Prices have come down a bit for the 2012 season. The seats are $80 each, and parking is $16, for a total of $176 per game. If interested, please call Matthew at (818) 985-2525 or email me at dpfp1@hotmail.com. Thanks much.

Joe Torre Horrow Show

The idea that Joe Torre's group might gain control of the Dodgers scares the hell out of me because he seemed to work well with Ned Colletti. If Ned stays, nothing really changes. Ned reminds me of the way my mother was when she played cards. She never took a card from the face-down deck (the unknown quantity) when she could take one from the discard pile face-up (the known quantity). Colletti is a nightmare worse than any Halloween movie. Why take a chance on a rookie when you can get an over-the-hill veteran? Rookies can either improve dramatically or go bust. Old players are already busted. You might get what you had last year, but usually you get less and less.

We need a rookie owner with a general manager who has something to prove. Please, please don't let Joe Torre loose on Los Angeles again!
